Village Campsite 034

Village Campsite 34

Campsites 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 33 and 34 can share a power post with 4 x 110 – 30 amp and 2 x 110 – 20 amp receptacles. Note that campsites 5 and 33 can also connect to the next power post to the west at campsites 6 and 7.

These sites are generally easy to back into and some (17 thru 21) might allow pull through if the adjoining space is not already occupied.

General camping information:

We will offer 2023 camping from Opening Day in May until Sunday, October 8 with dozens of electrical sites, two shower houses and an RV dump station on the grounds. If you wish to camp with us after our Labor Day main village closing, please stop upon entry at the self-check-in station, fill out the appropriate forms, and make payment via the secure drop box. You may then proceed to any open campsite. There are no reservations or site marking/saving during fall camping.

Camping is available from Opening Day in May typically into October (weather permitting).  After the Labor Day closing of our main village and prior to camping shutdown, please utilize our self-check-in station located just inside our gate before reaching our gift shop.  Pick up a packet there for instructions and information.

We offer dozens of electrical campsites, two shower houses and an RV dump station on the grounds. Free limited-area Wifi access is only available near the gift shop, not within campsites.

All motorized vehicles must obey the grounds speed limit of 5 mph and be operated with care and due regard.  Operators must be at least 16 years of age and possess a current driver’s license.  Operators of any motorized vehicles must not drive while consuming – or while under the influence of – alcohol or other performance altering substances.  Vehicles are allowed only on established roads within the immediate historic building and camping areas and within campsites.  All other areas (such as railroad right-of-way, grain/hay fields, etc) are prohibited.  Campers’ personal vehicles may not be parked on/in other campsites, even if vacant.  Side by sides, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, and motor scooters/hoverboards are prohibited on Prairie Village property.

Pets are welcome at Prairie Village but must be on a leash and kept under control at all times. Pets (except for official service animals) are not allowed in buildings, and owners must pick up after their pet. All appropriate immunizations must be current and documented.

Smoking is not allowed inside or within 25 feet of buildings, the carousel, and railroad equipment.

Campfires are fully the responsibility of the person setting the campfire, and are only allowed in campsites and when contained within an appropriate containment device, .  All campfires must be put out thoroughly before departing, and are not allowed during high winds or extremely dry conditions.  Fireworks of all kinds are prohibited on Prairie Village property.

Camping checkout time is 4:00 pm, unless late checkout has been previously approved by Prairie Village staff.  Incoming campers may choose to arrive prior to 4:00 pm but must understand that certain campsites may remain occupied from the day prior until 4:00 pm.  Quiet hours are 11:00 pm through 9:00 am daily; during these hours, all guests must curb excessive noise and loud campsite conversations.

Drone flying is prohibited unless specifically approved by management.

Regular season camping reservations are not required but are highly encouraged (again, no reservations are accepted after Labor Day).  We will begin taking regular season camping reservations for the 2023 season on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 9:00 am. When arriving during operating hours of our regular season, stop in at the gift shop to register and pay for camping. For after-hours arrival and for all arrivals during fall camping after Labor Day, we maintain a convenient self-check in station located near the gift shop. For regular season camping information or reservations, call 605-256-3644 or e-mail info@prairievillage.org.

Regular season camping fees:
-Electrical sites $25 (including tax) nightly.
-Non-electrical sites (dry lot) $20 (including tax) nightly.
Paid camping fees include free admission to Prairie Village, except for special events where gate fees are in effect.

Camping the night of the June 9 Bull Ride costs $30.00 additional minimum, even if not attending the event, and covers the Bull Ride gate fee for two adults. If more than two persons are with the camping party, additional admission charges will apply. The $30.00 does not apply if you have a Prairie Village season pass or if Bull Ride admission is paid at the event gate. A current season pass is good for admittance to this event and many others, including the entire August 24-27 Jamboree. Get season passes here.

Jamboree campers:
All electrical camp sites for the 60th Annual Steam Threshing Jamboree (August 24-27, 2023) have been reserved, but you may contact us to be placed on a standby list. We accommodate all additional campers if they desire to camp without electricity (dry lot). No reservations are required for the dry lot area, and generators are welcome in that area only. Upon arrival at the Jamboree vehicle gate, dry lot campers will be checked in and directed to a non-electrical camping area.

Jamboree camping is sold as a single package, regardless how many nights of the designated Jamboree camping dates you wish to stay. Paid and confirmed Jamboree campers may move their campers to the grounds (and may occupy them) any time beginning at 8:00 am Saturday, August 19, 2023.  Dry lot campers may also begin moving in on the same date and time, but are not required to reserve or pay prior to arriving at the gate. All campers must be removed no later than 9:00 pm Monday, August 28, 2023.

Campers may not move into their site prior to Aug. 19, as we can not accommodate the number of people that have begun requesting to do so…. due to grounds preparation, camper in-processing prior to Jamboree gate opening, etc.  We currently provide several days, evenings and a full weekend ahead of Jamboree to bring campers – beginning on Saturday, Aug. 19.  If you bring your camper prior to Aug. 19 (for either electrical or dry lot), you will be turned away.
