The 52nd Annual Steam Threshing Jamboree August 22-24 featuring the Hart-Parr Oliver Collectors Association National Show is about upon us. The complete schedule of events and other related information can be found on our website at prairievillage.org/jamboree or it can be picked up at the gift shop.
New this year is that the stock, classic and open tractor pull will be on Thursday evening at 5:30. Although this is technically outside the 3-day Jamboree dates, the three-day wristbands are good for that event. Otherwise the $10 admission fee will apply on Thursday evening with one-day wristbands being issued at the exhibitors (vehicle) gate.
Jamboree daily admission is $10 for adults, $2 age 6-12. Three-day adult passes are $27 and three-day passes for age 6-12 is $5. Free for age 5 and under. As usual, admission is free for those with Prairie Village season passes.
There will again be a separate entry gate for the Great Plains and Outlaw tractor pullers trucks which is located south of our exhibitors gate building. This will not be an admission gate for the public, it is only for the purpose of efficiently moving the large number of tractor pull equipment trucks over to their parking areas in the vicinity of the tractor pull track.
The highest density of vehicle traffic on highway 34 coming into the Prairie Village parking area will likely be between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the Saturday of the Jamboree. You may want to consider not trying to drive into the village during that time on Saturday.
To assist in accommodating the large number of expected Jamboree attendees, there will be a free shuttle bus service from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. between Madison and Prairie Village on the Friday and Saturday of the Jamboree. The Madison School District is providing the buses and drivers, at no cost to the school district, and the pick-up point will be the Manitou – Gehl parking lot on the Hyland Avenue bypass on the southwest edge of Madison.
The buses will travel on Territorial Road and come into the village by way of our south gate, which is an exit gate for other traffic. The shuttle buses will be the only vehicles allowed to enter through the south exit gate other than the tractor pull equipment trucks going to their gate. The shuttle buses (standard school buses) are not equipped to load wheel chairs or other devices designed to assist disabled persons.
All electrical camp sites for the Jamboree are full but we will provide non-electrical camping (dry lot) for those who desire it. No reservations are required or taken, and generators are welcome. Campers can just arrive at the gate and we will get them settled into a camping spot. We will have a large number of campers taking advantage of this opportunity.
Those with electrical camp site reservations can pick up their camping packets at the gift shop now if desired. The 3-day wristbands and golf cart or side by side registration tags can be obtained there also, or at the exhibitors gate starting this Sunday.
We still have tickets available for the popular dinner trains on Friday and Saturday evenings. Reservations are required and tickets are $25 single, $40 a couple, and $14 age 12 and under. Just give us a call at 256-3644 to make reservations.
