Both tonight (Thursday) and Friday night the Ghostlight Players from Freeman, SD return to the opera house with this year’s theatre performance of the comedy “Sylvia”. Curtain time is 7:30 and admission at the door is $12. We are pleased to have the Ghostlight Players back with us for what will no doubt be an excellent theatre production. Details on the comedy play “Sylvia, which revolves around a dog and how it came between a married couple, are on our website at prairievillage.org/ghostlight-players/.

As noted previously, the Buddy Holly and Beyond Review is coming up at the opera house on August 2nd. This is a tribute to the music of the 50s and 60s and is performed by Johnny Rogers and his band from Chicago. It will be the music of Buddy Holly, Elvis, Ritchie Valens, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and other music legends. Johnny Rogers has played for four US presidents and in 2009 and 2010 was nominated as the best show in Branson.

Tickets for this concert are $25 and can be obtained through the mail at Prairie Village, PO Box 256, Madison, SD 57042, or by calling the PV office at 605-256-3644 to purchase with a Visa or Mastercard, or they are available at the gift shop.

Bev Mader is the event coordinator for what promises to be an outstanding concert and she has tickets also, phone 480-2633. We expect a sellout of the 300 available tickets so purchasing them soon is advised. Prairie Village season passes are not accepted for admission to this special event.

We will have a busy weekend at the village as have a 4-H camp event and also the Manitou-Gehl company picnic. On Saturday night in the opera house at 7:30 there will be a free showing of the movie “The Nut Job”. Everyone is welcome to come out for this free movie.

Then on Sunday night at 7:00 in the opera house is the Trunk Show and send off for Taylor Bird. Taylor was our 2012 Miss Prairie Village and last month she was crowned Miss South Dakota Outstanding Teen 2014. She now goes to the nationals in Orlando, Florida. The event Sunday evening is a show and tell of what she will be wearing in Orlando and is a fund raiser for her trip. The Sunday evening event also includes musical entertainment.
