PRAIRIE VILLAGE NEWS 6/6/2014

Stan Rauch, Manager

The open house and associated Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Wednesday in celebration of our extensively renovated Lawrence Welk opera house provided the attendees with the opportunity to see what has been exceptionally well done with this grand old building.

Thanks to an extremely generous benefactor, there are new floors throughout, new seats, doors and windows, new interior wall and ceiling materials, exterior siding, painting and electrical work accomplished, lighting upgrades, and a state of the art audio/visual system installed. It’s one of those situations where you need to see it to fully appreciate the significance of this outstanding project.

Lots of people will be experiencing the wonderfully renovated opera house this Sunday evening at 7:00 pm when they attend the Miss Prairie Village/Miss Prairie Princess Pageant. This year we have 6 big girls and 14 younger ones in the pageant. They have been practicing this week for what will not doubt be a highly enjoyable event. The theme this year is “Salute To The Military”.

Another big event coming up soon at the village is the 8th Annual Northern Bull Riding Tour on Friday the 13th. There’s a calcutta at 6:30 and then the bull riding begins at 7:00.

The bull ride is an excellent community event as the Chamber of Commerce’s Ag Committee is actively involved as is the Madison Fire Department with its fundraising beer tent. The mechanical bull will be there too so those inclined can hop on and give the bucking bovine a good go. The Prairie Village kitchen will be serving great food too. All in all it’s a great family event so plan to come on out for that on the 13th.
