PRAIRIE VILLAGE NEWS 6/26/2014

Stan Rauch, Manager

It was a full opera house last Sunday evening enjoying a great bunch of talented performers at our first ever Variety Show. I believe it is safe to say that we will be doing it again next year.

Speaking of talent, huge congratulations to Taylor Bird for being crowned Miss South Dakota Outstanding Teen 2014 at Hot Springs last weekend. There were 16 girls vying for the title. Taylor was Miss Prairie Village 2012 and she is one of our employees here at the village this summer.

During the Variety Show we announced an exciting new music event that is coming to the village. The Buddy Holly and Beyond Review, a salute to the 50’s and 60’s featuring the Johnny Rogers Band direct from Chicago, is coming to the Lawrence Welk Opera House on Saturday, August 2.

Johnny Rogers has played for four US Presidents and he was nominated for the best show in Branson, MO in 2009 and 2010. The band will feature the music of Buddy Holly, Elvis, Richie Valens, The Big Bopper, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and more.

Tickets for what promises to be a highly entertaining concert are on sale now for $25. Tickets can be obtained at our gift shop or through the mail to Prairie Village, PO Box 256, Madison, SD 57042. Prairie Village season passes are not accepted for this event. All proceeds will go to the continued upkeep and preservation of the opera house.

For further information about the Buddy Holly and Beyond Review, call us here at the village at 605-256-3644 or e-mail info@prairievillage.org. Or contact Bev Mader, Event Coordinator, at 605-480-2633.

This Friday through Sunday the 7th Annual Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival will be here at the village. An independently conducted event, details are at bigtimecountry.com or call 866-245-2702.
