PRAIRIE VILLAGE NEWS 6/20/2014

We certainly had a successful and enjoyable Northern Bull Riding Tour event last Friday evening with a big crowd on hand to take in the bull riding excitement. With the unsettled weather recently we were thankful that it was favorable for the event.

In conjunction with the bull ride, the Chamber of Commerce’s Ag Committee, as part of its Ag Appreciation initiative, gives bull ride tickets to ag producers. This year there were 302 ag producer tickets turned in at the admission gate, an all-time record high number.

KDLT TV News recently did a nice feature story on Prairie Village’s Lawrence Welk Opera House following the completion of our $200,000 renovation project. It focuses not only on the restoration but also presents some interesting history on the 102 year old opera house that was moved from Oldham to the village in 1972. You can see the narrative and video of the KDLT TV feature story on our website at prairievillage.org. The link to it is in the first paragraph at the top of our Home page.

We have another big event coming right up as the first ever Prairie Village Variety Show will be held in the opera house this Sunday evening at 7:00 pm. This promises to be a fun and entertaining event as there will be 18 individual performers and groups showcasing their talent.

Admission to the Variety Show is $5 for adults, $2 for age 6-12 and free for age 5 and under. Prairie Village season passes honored.
