PRAIRIE VILLAGE NEWS 5/30/2014

Stan Rauch, Manager

June is about upon us and we have a busy schedule of events during the month. The Miss Prairie Village/Miss Prairie Princess Pageant is on the 8th, the Northern Bull Riding Tour on the 13th, the Prairie Village Variety Show on the 22nd, and the Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival the 27th through the 29th.

We have an additional significant event coming right up on Wednesday, June 4 at the Lawrence Welk opera house with an open house from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a ribbon cutting at 5:30. A truly extensive renovation has taken place with the opera house and we encourage everyone to come out to join us as we celebrate the completion of this large, immensely positive project at the village.

Starting this Sunday and through August, church services will be conducted every Sunday at 8:00 a.m. at our Prairie Village church on the northwest side of the grounds. The services are provided by area pastors or lay leaders that generously donate their time and energy to provide the services in the historic church that was built in 1906 in Junius. Please come and join us for these services. There is no village entrance fee to attend church services except during the Jamboree where gate fees are in effect.

We had 56 camping units at the village over Memorial Day weekend, a record high number for that holiday. Camping fever seems to have taken hold of folks and we look forward to hosting a large number of campers over the summer. Reservations are not normally required unless multiple units would like to camp adjacent to each other.
