With the 4th of July being next Thursday and our annual Railroad Days being on Saturday and Sunday the 6th and 7th, it will be an exceptionally active time at the village.
Railroad Days is when we showcase the Prairie Village, Herman & Milwaukee railroad and provide the opportunity for visitors to learn more about various facets of railroading. The events include train, doodlebug and motor car rides, chapel car Emmanuel and roundhouse tours, a model railroad display, and chain saw art demonstrations. And there’s free hobo stew while it lasts on Sunday. For a complete schedule, check out our website at prairievillage.org/railroad-days. Daily admission is $5, age 5 and under free.
One of the special features among the many activities at Railroad Days is the pizza train at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. This will be a fun train with Pizza Ranch pizza, bread sticks, pizza dessert and a beverage being served. The cost is $12 for adults and $7 for age 12 and under. The pizza train is by reservation only, so give us a call at 256-3644.
If you are at the village the next several days please be aware that fireworks are strictly prohibited. It is vital that the historic buildings be protected from the potential of fire.
We always have a large number of folks come out to the village on the 4th of July to take up a good position to see the fireworks display that is conducted over in the Izaak Walton League to the west. We certainly welcome everyone taking advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the excellent fireworks display.
We will have a large number of campers at the village this next week through the 7th. But even at that there will be plenty of electrical camping sites available so come on out to camp and enjoy the festivities.
