Prairie Village News 06/08/2012

Stan Rauch, Manager

From June through Jamboree Sunday, we have church services every Sunday at 8:00 a.m. at the Junius Church here at Prairie Village. The services are conducted by area volunteer pastors that have their own churchs to attend to thus our early start time. We have volunteer ushers and piano accompanists also.

Long time church piano musician, Juanita Ediger of Wentworth, has been dedicated to the village church and has been our accompanist for the majority of the services for the past several years. She has recently moved out of the area so we are now in need of piano players in support of our weekly church services. For those with church accompanist experience, please let me know if you would be willing to help support our worship services in this way.

This month is going to be a busy one with regard to special events at the village. The Northern Bull Riding Tour is this evening starting at 7:00 p.m. so come on out for that exciting and always enjoyable event.

The Madison Area Arts Council’s White Night Festival is coming up soon on June 16 and is now in its second year at the village.

Then on June 22-24 the 5th annual Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival (info at bigtimecountrymusic.com) will be at the village. Our season passes are not accepted for this as the Country Music Festival is an independently conducted event. Prairie Village rents the grounds to the organizers of the Festival but does not conduct or sponsor it. Any monetary investing in the Festival is solely with the organizers, with no connection to Prairie Village.

Our annual Railroad Days will be held on July 7-8. Two additional features to Railroad Days this year include a pizza train at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday the 7th (reservations required) and at 8:00 p.m. that same evening there will be a fund raising benefit for the continued preservation of the 100 year old Lawrence Welk Opera House. Featured will be the Something New rock and roll band and it promises to be a truly outstanding event so mark your calendars now to attend that one.

With Fathers’ Day coming up on Sunday, June 17, our train will run at 2:00 p.m. and all fathers ride free so plan to bring dad out. The train also runs every Saturday at 2:00 p.m. throughout the season.
