The Miss Prairie Village/Miss Prairie Princess Pageant is this Sunday evening at 7:00 in the opera house. The participants have been practicing this week for what will no doubt be a very enjoyable event. There are four big girls and 15 little ones in this year’s pageant and the theme is “Frozen”.

On Saturday the Bierema Rodeo Company will arrive with the arena from White River and it will be put up in preparation for the 9th annual Northern Bull Riding Tour that will be held on Friday the 12th.

The bull ride is an excellent community event as the Chamber of Commerce’s Ag Committee is actively involved as is the Madison Fire Department with its fundraising beer tent. The mechanical bull will be here again too so those inclined can hop on and give the bucking bovine a good go. The Prairie Village kitchen will be serving great food too. All in all it’s a great family event so plan to come out for that on the 12th. Admission is $12 adults, $5 age 6-12, age 5 and under free, or Prairie Village season pass. There’s a calcutta at 6:30 and then the bull riding at 7:00.

Our first church service of the season is this Sunday at 8:00 a.m. We welcome and encourage the public to attend. The services are held in our Junius Church that was founded and dedicated in 1906 in the community of Junius. Membership was originally Methodist Episcopalian but soon became the religious center for the entire community. The church was moved to Prairie Village in 1967.
